*Summary Description:***
Teradata is looking for architects with real experience in designing and implementing database internals. As a member in an elite software engineering group, one will be responsible for designing and developing the following key components and features of a highly sophisticated software product:
- Query execution – Query optimization – Data mining – Natural language processing – Data distribution services – System configuration services – System management services – Parallel processing framework – Concurrency control and transaction recovery *

The work is very challenging and complex, involving extensive technical discussions and frequent problem solving. One is expected to
– Contribute to technical architecture ** – Work with development teams to complete the implementation ** – Work with quality assurance teams on test strategy and execution ** – Research and evaluate related and/or competing technologies ** – Apply new technologies to problems; assess impact of technology changes

*Basic Qualifications: *
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or foreign equivalent – Experience in architecting complex system software – 10+ years of hands-on software development experience – 6+ years of software development experience in C/C++ – Experience in developing database kernel software – Experience in delivering commercial software products – Experience in delivering commercial software product – Familiar with Linux and/or Windows – Working knowledge of Linux/Unix kernel interfaces
*Preferred Qualifications: *
- Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science or related discipline or foreign equivalent**
– Experience with or knowledge of the design and construction of database engine software
